What Is E-Girl Blush?

A blush placement style where color is applied heavily under the eyes and across the nose bridge, creating the flushed, anime-inspired look associated with e-girl makeup.

E-girl blush is one of the most recognizable elements of the e-girl aesthetic. Instead of placing blush on the apples of the cheeks, you sweep it across the nose and directly under the eyes, mimicking a shy, blushing-from-the-cold effect. The placement draws from anime and manga character design, where characters blush across the nose bridge. Cream and liquid blushes work best because they give a natural, dewy flush. The color is usually pink, but peach, mauve, and even lavender versions exist. Pair it with graphic liner, faux freckles, or heavy eye makeup for the full e-girl look, or wear the blush placement alone for a softer take.

Tips

  • Use a cream or liquid blush for a natural, skin-like flush. Powder can look cakey in the undereye area.
  • Apply with your fingertips in small dabbing motions across the nose bridge and just below the lower lash line.
  • Build gradually. This placement is close to the eyes, so too much product at once can look like irritation rather than a cute flush.
