Sugarpill Cosmetics is one of the original indie 'alternative' makeup brands, founded in 2010 in Los Angeles by artist Amy Doan (known online as Shrinkle). Built around unapologetically bright, cartoonishly saturated color, Sugarpill rejected the idea that makeup has to be 'flattering' in favor of pure self-expression — a philosophy that made it a foundational name for the editorial, cosplay and alt-beauty communities.
