Bourjois
Budget“Parisian colour since 1863.”
Bourjois is one of the oldest cosmetics houses in the world, founded in Paris in 1863 by Joseph-Albert Ponsin and later named for Alexandre-Napoléon Bourjois, who turned a theatrical greasepaint business into the first dry, baked powder blush — still sold today as the iconic Little Round Pot. For most of the 20th century Bourjois was the affordable, joyfully Parisian counterpart to its sister house Chanel (the two shared a parent company), and since 2015 it has been owned by Coty.
The brand is a French-pharmacy staple and a perennial favourite of UK and European beauty editors for delivering luxe formulas at drugstore prices. Its Healthy Mix radiant foundation, Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks, Volume Glamour and 1 Seconde mascaras, and the rose-scented Little Round Pot blush are the products that show up over and over in 'high-end for less' roundups — the Little Round Pot in shade 95 being one of the most-duped powder blushes in beauty history.
