What Is Sunset Lip?
A gradient lip look that blends warm, sunset-inspired tones like coral, orange, peach, and pink from the center of the lips outward.
The sunset lip takes the gradient lip concept and layers warm-toned shades to mimic the color shifts of a sunset. Typically, a deeper coral or warm red sits at the center of the lips, blending outward into peach or golden pink at the edges. The look is popular in K-beauty and Douyin-inspired makeup, where it creates a youthful, just-bitten effect. It works with both matte and glossy finishes. A matte base blended with a glossy or shimmery topper in the center adds dimension. The technique flatters warm and neutral undertones especially well, but cool-toned variations with berry and mauve exist too.
Tips
- Start with a warm-toned lip liner slightly inside your lip line, then blend inward with a finger or brush.
- Layer a lighter, peachy shade on the outer portion and blend where the two colors meet.
