What Is Ombré Lip?
An ombré lip is a two-tone lip technique where the outer edges of the lips are darker and the center is lighter, creating a gradient effect that adds dimension and fullness.
The ombré lip technique became a global trend through K-beauty, where it's often called a "gradient lip." It creates the illusion of fuller, plumper lips by concentrating dark color at the outer edges and blending lighter color or gloss into the center. The look can be subtle (using two shades from the same family) or dramatic (pairing a dark liner with a contrasting center). It works with any lip product—lipstick, lip liner, lip tint, or gloss—and suits all lip shapes.
Tips
- Line the outer edges with a darker shade and blend inward with a finger or lip brush.
- Add a lighter shade or gloss to the center of the lips for the gradient effect.
- Blot between layers for a stained, diffused look rather than a harsh line.
