What Is Multi-Masking?

Multi-masking is the practice of applying different face masks to different zones of your face simultaneously to address multiple skin concerns at once.

Instead of using one mask for your entire face, multi-masking targets specific areas with targeted formulas. For example, a clay mask on the T-zone for oil control, a hydrating mask on the cheeks for dry patches, and a brightening mask under the eyes for dark circles. The concept gained popularity around 2016 as skincare became more personalized. It's especially useful for combination skin, where different areas have different needs. The technique takes the same amount of time as a single mask but addresses multiple concerns in one session.

Tips

  • Start with just two zones (T-zone and cheeks) before getting more complex.
  • Choose masks with similar timing so you can remove them all at once.
  • Avoid using strong active masks (like acid peels) on multiple zones simultaneously.
