What Is Cloud Blush?
A diffused blush technique where color is blended out softly with no visible edges, creating a weightless, cloud-like flush on the cheeks.
Cloud blush is all about seamless blending. The goal is a wash of color that seems to float on the skin with zero harsh lines or concentrated spots. You achieve this by applying a small amount of cream or liquid blush to the cheeks and then diffusing it outward with a damp sponge, stippling brush, or your fingers until the edges completely disappear. The result looks like a natural blush from within, similar to how skin flushes after a workout or in cold weather. Cloud blush works with any shade but looks especially dreamy in soft pinks, peaches, and mauves. It pairs well with cloud skin and other soft-focus makeup techniques.
Tips
- Apply a tiny dot of cream blush to each cheek, then blend outward in circular motions with a damp beauty sponge.
- The key is removing product, not adding it. Start with less than you think you need.
- Layer over a dewy base or skin tint for the most natural cloud-like effect. Matte foundations can grip the blush and make blending harder.
