What Is Lash Extensions?
Lash extensions are semi-permanent individual or cluster lashes glued to your natural lashes by a trained technician, lasting two to four weeks before needing a fill.
Lash extensions are applied one by one (classic), in small fans (volume), or as pre-made clusters (hybrid) to your natural lashes using a semi-permanent adhesive. The process takes one to three hours for a full set and 30–60 minutes for fills every two to three weeks. Extensions come in different materials (synthetic, mink, silk), lengths (8mm–16mm+), curls (J, B, C, D, L), and thicknesses to create effects ranging from natural enhancement to dramatic volume. Proper application and aftercare are essential — poor technique or cheap adhesive can damage natural lashes. Extensions eliminate the need for mascara and can significantly reduce daily makeup time.
Tips
- Choose a reputable technician — improper application is the main cause of lash damage. Ask to see their certification and portfolio.
- Avoid oil-based products near the eyes — oil breaks down lash adhesive and shortens extension life.
- Sleep on your back or use a silk pillowcase to prevent crushing extensions overnight.
