What Is Glazed Skin?

Glazed skin is a makeup and skincare trend that aims for an ultra-shiny, reflective finish on the skin—like a glazed donut—using layered hydrating products and liquid highlight.

The glazed skin trend was popularized by Hailey Bieber and her aesthetician in 2022 and has only grown since. It goes beyond dewy—the goal is a wet, almost reflective sheen across the high points of the face (cheekbones, nose bridge, cupid's bow, brow bone). The look is achieved by layering hydrating serums, moisturizer, a luminous primer, and a liquid or balm highlighter. Unlike glass skin which emphasizes poreless clarity, glazed skin embraces visible shine and dimension. It works best in person and in photos with natural light, though it can read as oily on camera under harsh flash if overdone.

Tips

  • Layer a hydrating serum under moisturizer, then a luminous primer for the best base.
  • Apply liquid highlighter on cheekbones, nose bridge, and cupid's bow with your fingertips for a natural melt-in effect.
  • Skip powder on the high points of the face—powder kills the glaze.
  • Finish with a dewy setting spray to lock in the shine without adding matteness.
