What Is Cherry Lips?
Cherry lips is a K-beauty lip technique that creates a juicy, bitten effect with concentrated color in the center of the lips that fades softly outward.
Cherry lips—also called Korean gradient lips—achieve a youthful, fresh, just-ate-a-cherry look by concentrating pigment on the inner portion of the lips while leaving the outer edges soft and blended. The technique involves applying concealer or foundation on the lip edges to diffuse the natural lip line, then pressing a bold color (typically red, berry, or cherry) into the center of both lips. The result is a pouty, dimensional lip that looks effortlessly attractive. It became a K-beauty staple alongside gradient lips and differs slightly in that cherry lips tend to use richer, more saturated red and berry tones rather than the softer pinks of a traditional gradient lip.
Tips
- Dab concealer or foundation around the edges of your lips to soften the lip line before applying color.
- Use a lip tint, liquid lipstick, or creamy lipstick in a cherry-red or deep berry shade—press onto the center of both lips.
- Gently press your lips together to transfer color, then blend outward with your fingertip—don't rub.
- Top with a clear or sheer gloss on the center for a juicy, three-dimensional effect.
