LYS Beauty ("Love Yourself") was founded in 2021 by Tisha Thompson, a beauty industry veteran with two decades of product development and clean-beauty experience. The brand launched as Sephora's first Black-owned clean color cosmetics line — a milestone Sephora had been building toward through the 15% Pledge — and grew quickly into a full-aisle complexion and color line stocked across the US, Canada, and Australia.
LYS combines inclusivity (the No Limits Cream Bronzer and Triple Fix Foundation launched in 30+ shades) with clean formulation (free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil) and accessible pricing — most heroes sit between $14 and $32. The brand secured an eight-figure Series A in 2025 to fund an 800-store Sephora US expansion, making it one of the most well-funded Black-owned makeup brands in prestige distribution.
