Elcie Cosmetics was founded in 2015 in Los Angeles by Lilit Caradanian, the professional makeup artist and content creator better known online as MakeupByLilit. The name is drawn from her own initials, and the brand's premise came directly from her client work: rather than chasing trend shades, Elcie set out to make the user-friendly staples that belong in every makeup bag, formulated so that beginners and professionals get the same result.
That approach shows up in richly pigmented, vitamin-E-enriched formulas across the Remarkable Lipstick line, Multi-Dimensional Blush and The Ultimate Face Palette. For years the brand sold almost exclusively through its own site and a single Los Angeles beauty store, and its expansion onto Ulta Beauty marked its real breakout moment — one of the clearest recent examples of a creator-founded indie label converting a loyal online audience into national retail distribution.
