Beautyblender

Mid-Range

The sponge that changed how foundation is applied.

United States·Founded 2002·by Rea Ann Silva

Beautyblender was created in 2002 by Rea Ann Silva, a Los Angeles makeup artist who had been cutting her own sponges into rounded shapes on set to blend foundation for high-definition television. The egg-shaped, edgeless, hydrophilic sponge she developed solved a real production problem — HD cameras exposed every streak and line — and became one of the most copied beauty tools ever made.

The brand built out from that single object into a full complexion line including Bounce Liquid Whip Foundation, Bounce Airbrush Concealer and a range of cleansers designed to keep the sponges usable. Beautyblender remains the reference product in its category, and the shelf of pink-and-white imitations at every drugstore is the clearest evidence of how thoroughly it defined the format.

Brand Philosophy

The right tool matters as much as the formula — a sponge that holds water and has no edges lets anyone blend like a professional on an HD set.
