Luxury“Modern Japanese luxury — the MUA-cult brand built around posture, light, and ageless skin.”

SUQQU is a luxury makeup brand from Japan, founded in 2003 by Yumi Sugimoto (founding brand director, Kanebo / e'quipe). It's best known for its Designing Color Eyes quad palette, Liquid Foundation and Nuancing Eyeshadow.
SUQQU launched in 2003 in Japan, built backstage in the film and entertainment industry from the practical need to keep actresses' skin radiant under camera lights from early morning to late at night. The name comes from the Japanese phrase '凛と背筋を伸ばす' — 'to stand tall with refined posture' — and that gesture of upright restraint became the brand's visual identity: minimalist matte-black packaging, no logos shouted across the cap, and product names like 'Designing Color Eyes' and 'Nuancing Eyeshadow' that signal craft over marketing. SUQQU is owned by e'quipe LTD., a subsidiary of Kanebo Cosmetics within the Kao Group.
In the West, SUQQU has built a fierce makeup-artist cult following — especially among UK MUAs after the brand expanded to Selfridges, Harrods, and Liberty London — for the Designing Color Eyes quad palettes, the Liquid Foundation, the cream blushes that finish like real-skin flush rather than powder pop, and the proprietary Gankin facial massage technique taught in-store. The four-pan quad palettes (released in seasonal limited editions) trigger sellouts and resale market activity. SUQQU sits in the same prestige tier as Clé de Peau Beauté and is the brand MUAs reach for when they want pigment that performs like luxury European complexion brands but in a Japanese minimalist aesthetic.
