Dewy No-Makeup Makeup
Last updated:
The no-makeup makeup look evolved. The old version was about concealing everything and looking flat-but-flawless. The new version is about enhancing what's there with glowy skin, lifted brows, a flush of blush, and zero powder. It's the everyday look for anyone who wants to look put-together without looking 'done.' This takes about 10 minutes and uses fewer than eight products.
Step-by-step
- 1
Skincare as the base
Step 1 of 8Start with well-hydrated skin. Moisturizer, a drop of facial oil pressed into cheeks, and SPF. The entire look depends on the skin underneath, so don't rush this step.
Tip: Wait 3-5 minutes after skincare so nothing pills under the next layers.
- 2
Luminous primer on high points
Step 2 of 8Apply a luminous primer (Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Filter, Rare Beauty Positive Light, or a dupe) only on the high points: tops of cheeks, bridge of nose, chin, cupid's bow. Not the full face.
- 3
Skin tint, not foundation
Step 3 of 8Apply a lightweight skin tint (Ilia Super Serum, Maybelline Fit Me Fresh, Glossier Skin Tint) with fingers or a damp sponge. Press it in; don't drag. Skip the T-zone entirely if your skin is clear there.
Tip: Skin tint only where you need it — no need for full coverage.
- 4
Spot conceal
Step 4 of 8Use a small concealer brush to spot-conceal only blemishes and the inner corner of under-eyes. Stipple — don't swipe. Less is more.
- 5
Cream blush
Step 5 of 8Tap cream blush onto the apples of the cheeks and blend upward toward the temples with fingers. A soft peach, pink, or berry depending on your undertone. Build to the flush level you want.
- 6
Fluffy brushed brows
Step 6 of 8Brush brows up with a clear or tinted brow gel. Skip filling in unless you have sparse areas. Full, natural brows are part of the look.
- 7
Cream highlight
Step 7 of 8Tap liquid or cream highlighter on the tops of cheekbones, bridge of nose, and cupid's bow. Blend with fingers until it looks like natural light catching the skin.
- 8
Mascara and lip balm
Step 8 of 8Almost done! One coat of brown or black mascara on top lashes only. Finish with a tinted lip balm (Rhode Peptide, Dior Lip Glow, or similar). Skip powder entirely — powder kills the dewy finish.

Pro tips
- Less is more for every single step. You can always add more; you can't easily take away.
- Skin prep is 70% of this look. Glowy skincare equals glowy makeup.
- Avoid any product labeled matte — matte finishes will kill the effect.
Skin type notes
Works best on normal to dry skin. Oily skin should set the T-zone lightly and keep the rest dewy.
