What Is Face Tape?
Face tape consists of small adhesive strips applied to the skin to create a temporary lifting effect on the jawline, brows, or other facial areas for a more sculpted appearance.
Face tape has been used in entertainment and fashion for decades—actors, models, and drag performers use it to lift and tighten specific areas of the face for photography and on-camera appearances. Small medical-grade adhesive strips are placed at strategic points (usually along the hairline, behind the ears, or at the temples) and pulled to create tension that lifts the skin. The tape is then concealed with hair or covered with foundation. Social media popularized a consumer version where smaller, transparent strips are placed along the jawline or near the brows for a subtle snatched effect in daily wear. Results are temporary and purely cosmetic—tape creates an illusion of tighter, more lifted features without any medical procedure.
Tips
- Clean, dry skin is essential for tape adhesion—apply before moisturizer or primer on the taped area.
- Place tape along the hairline near the temples for a brow and eye lift effect.
- Use foundation or concealer over the tape edges to blend them into the skin.
