bareMinerals
Mid-Range“The original clean mineral makeup.”
By Viktoria @vioda.makeup · Published · Updated
bareMinerals is a mid range makeup brand from the United States, founded in 1995 by Leslie Blodgett. It's best known for its Original Loose Powder Foundation, Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer and Mineral Veil Finishing Powder.
bareMinerals launched in 1995 out of Leslie Blodgett's San Francisco studio under the Bare Escentuals umbrella, built around a single radical idea: pure crushed minerals as foundation, skipping the talc, fragrance, and oil that dominated the powder category at the time. The Original Loose Powder Foundation became a cult QVC hit through Blodgett's late-night demos, and within a decade the brand was acquired by Shiseido in a $1.7 billion deal that scaled it into Sephora, Ulta, and global prestige distribution.
The range now spans loose mineral and pressed foundations, Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer, Mineralist lipstick, and Strength & Length serum mascara — all built around the brand's clean, dermatologist-tested positioning. bareMinerals is one of the longest-running mineral makeup brands in the prestige channel and remains a go-to for sensitive skin, post-procedure shoppers, and anyone allergic to the standard foundation ingredient list.
